Haarlem Station Train Shed — Barrel-Vault Ironwork Platform
23 May 2025 · Haarlem
Haarlem's Victorian train shed compresses distance into geometry. The barrel-vault canopy — cast iron ribs fanning out across the full width of the platform — pulls the eye down the track lines toward a single vanishing point at the far arch. Platform 5 is empty; the structure is the subject. Industrial-scale engineering from an era that treated infrastructure as architecture, still doing exactly what it was built to do.
