Koepelgevangenis Haarlem — Panopticon Dome Against Overcast Sky

The Koepelgevangenis in Haarlem reads as two buildings competing for authority: the long brick wing holds the street edge with institutional weight, and the panopticon dome rises behind it as the punctuation mark that settles the argument. Overcast light flattens the muted palette and lets the geometry do the work — the dome's curve against the heavy cloud mass is the frame the building was always meant to inhabit. In monochrome, the brick mass and dome geometry shed every distraction and speak purely in tone and form.
