Amsterdamse Poort dominates the frame from ground level, its four brick turrets and Gothic arch silhouetted against a brooding overcast sky. The low wide angle compresses the canal bridge into a direct lead-in line, turning the gateway into something you walk through rather than look at. Built in the late 15th century, it is the only surviving city gate in Haarlem — a medieval fortification now flanked by modern office blocks, still holding its ground.
