Gothic Chapel Facade with Clock Tower, Haarlem
23 May 2025 · Haarlem
A brick chapel gable in Haarlem, pushed into shadow by an overcast summer sky. The triangular roofline, gothic arch window, and carved doorway stack one against the next — each layer pulling the eye toward the clock tower rising behind. Bicycles lean against the base of the wall, grounding centuries of ecclesiastical stone in an ordinary Dutch afternoon. Monochrome reduces the scene to tonal weight: the dark brick holds the frame; the blown sky releases it.
