De Adriaan stands at the edge of the Spaarne, its dark hull anchored between the river and a churning summer sky. The mill is the oldest kind of landmark — built for function, kept for meaning — and the cloud mass rolling over Haarlem's waterfront gives it something a clear day rarely does: genuine compositional weight. Historic brick townhouses line the far bank, grounding the scene in a city that hasn't forgotten what it looked like three centuries ago.
