Haarlem Narrow Street with Dramatic Altocumulus Sky
23 May 2025 · Haarlem
A narrow residential street in Haarlem pulls the eye toward the horizon, brick facades rising on both sides in the tight corridor of a centuries-old Dutch neighbourhood. Herringbone cobblestones run the length of the lane; stepped gables stack against each other in the middle distance where the street bends away. Above it all, an altocumulus sky breaks open — turbulent, textured, vast — pressing the street into shadow while the clouds hold all the light. The compression of the architecture and the scale of the sky pull against each other, and the tension between them is the photograph.
