Valkestraat Alley, Haarlem — Church Tower Beyond
23 May 2025 · Haarlem
Valkestraat narrows to a corridor of dark brick, graffiti tagging the wall on the right, a parked car wedged in at the base. At the far end, the church tower rises between the rooflines, framed by an overcast summer sky. The alley does all the compositional work — leading lines held tight on both sides, the steeple pulled into the gap like a fixed point. Grit at street level, centuries of stonework above: the two sit in the same frame without apology.
