Haarlem Canal Quay Under an Overcast Summer Sky

A Haarlem gracht on a heavy summer afternoon — the cloud cover pulls the colour from the water and the brick, leaving both flat and still. The white railing curves away along the quay, drawing the eye toward the moored boats and the townhouses lined up beyond. Overcast light does what clear skies cannot: it equalises everything, pressing the canal, the trees, and the rooftops into a single plane of cool, even tone.
