Dutch Renaissance Stepped Gable and Construction Crane, Haarlem
23 May 2025 · Haarlem
A 1902 Dutch Renaissance facade on Haarlem's De Brouwerij, its ornate trapgevel rising through a canopy of summer trees into a churning, cloud-heavy sky. The crane's yellow diagonal slices across the stepped gable at full confidence — steel geometry laid over carved stonework without apology. The building is being worked on; the building has survived everything else. Construction and preservation are the same act at different speeds.
