Dutch Renaissance Stepped Gable Silhouette, Haarlem
23 May 2025 · Haarlem
A Haarlem trapgevel pushed to pure silhouette, the stepped gable's ornamental crown cutting a sharp graphic line against an altocumulus sky. The sun burns through the cloud layer directly above the apex — not incidentally, but as an axis the whole frame is built around. Architecture reduced to form; sky given enough tonal weight to hold its own against it. The detail dissolves into shadow and what remains is the outline, precise and unarguable.
