De Adriaan stands on the Spaarne waterfront in Haarlem, its dark timber body rising against a turbulent Noord-Holland sky. The cloud mass here is structural — it fills two-thirds of the frame and presses down on the sails with genuine compositional weight. A landmark built to work with weather, and the weather obliges. The brick base anchors the whole composition to the quay; everything above it is motion held still.
