Amsterdamse Poort anchors the edge of Haarlem's old city with a mass of red brick towers that have held their ground since the 15th century. Shot from directly below, the cylindrical foreground turret, octagonal mid-tower, and receding square keep compress into a single layered silhouette — medieval fortification read as pure geometry. The storm sky overhead does what overcast Dutch skies do best: it removes every competing distraction and hands the structure the frame.
