Industrial Chimney at ENCI Groeve, Sint-Pietersberg
8 February 2026 · ENCI-groeve Sint-Pietersberg
The chimney stack at ENCI groeve rises in a clean vertical against a deep winter blue sky, a contrail cutting diagonally above it as if the two lines are in quiet conversation. Below, the raw limestone quarry face runs the full width of the frame — warm ochre stone against cold industrial steel. The structure earns its graphic weight through the geometry: a single dominant vertical, a curve of exhaust pipe, and the hard horizontal edge of the excavation face holding everything down. Sint-Pietersberg's limestone geology does as much compositional work here as the architecture itself.
