A gravel path cuts straight into the old ENCI quarry at Sint-Pietersberg, flanked by a metal fence whose shadow stretches hard across the ground under low winter sun. To the left, still water sits against the limestone terrace — the flooded basin of a post-industrial landscape that has been left to find its own equilibrium. The chalk cliff terraces step up the right-hand wall in geological layers, bare winter scrub clinging to the upper slopes, a clear blue sky pulled wide over the whole basin.
