The ENCI quarry at Sint-Pietersberg drops away in terraced limestone steps toward a flooded basin floor, the winter sun sitting low and hard against a clear blue sky. Shot contre-jour from the viewpoint platform, the ridge tree line holds as a dark silhouette while the quarry lake below mirrors the haze of the sun. Industrial extraction stripped this hillside to its geology; what remains is a landscape with the scale and stillness of something much older than its purpose.
