A steel staircase cuts a long diagonal across the bare chalk escarpment of Sint-Pietersberg, figures small against the hillside, the ENCI quarry floor spread wide in the valley below. The sky opens up over everything — deep blue at the zenith, bleached pale near the horizon where the winter sun sits low and hard. The geometry is blunt: built infrastructure on a post-industrial hillside doing its best to look at home in a landscape it helped shape.
