Sint-Pietersberg Limestone Quarry Lake, Maastricht
8 February 2026 · ENCI-groeve Sint-Pietersberg
ENCI-groeve in winter stillness. The flooded quarry floor has turned the cliff face into a mirror — geological strata and cave openings reflected in water so still it reads as a second sky. Bare trees line the ridge above the cut limestone wall, and a pale blue winter sky completes both versions of the scene: the one in the air and the one in the water. Sint-Pietersberg carries centuries of extraction in its face; the lake that replaced the quarry floor gives it an unexpected second life as a landscape.
