Limestone Cliff at ENCI-Groeve, Sint-Pietersberg
8 February 2026 · ENCI-groeve Sint-Pietersberg
A gravel path runs straight into the distance along the base of Sint-Pietersberg's limestone cliff, the rock face catching golden-hour light in a way that flattens it to warm ochre. Carved niches cut into the stone mark centuries of quarrying — the rock that built Maastricht, still standing as the excavation that replaced it. The path is empty, the bare trees on both banks stripped back to their structure, and the clear winter sky holds the whole scene in cold, clean air. Stillness and geological weight in the same frame.
