Oostpoort City Gate, Delft — Medieval Arch and Cobblestone Passage

Delft's Oostpoort frames a second arch beyond it — the gate's barrel-vaulted tunnel pulling the eye through dark brick toward a willow and a waterway on a clear summer afternoon. The cobblestones continue the line; the tower rises above. Medieval fortification as working architecture, still standing at the edge of the city, still dividing inside from outside as deliberately as it did six centuries ago.
