The Nieuwe Kerk tower in Delft compresses into a near-perfect wedge when seen from directly below — brick and stone tapering to a Gothic spire, the ornamental detail growing denser as the eye climbs. The shot is taken from street level at the base of the facade, looking straight up into a turbulent Dutch sky. Architecture this decisive earns the full frame; the cloud mass above it does the same work as the masonry below.
