Voldersgracht frames the Oude Kerk the way Delft has always framed it — canal, bridge rail, and summer canopy pulling the eye straight to the Gothic tower. A bicycle leaned against the white railing does what bicycles do in this country: completes the composition without trying. The overcast spring sky holds the light flat and even, letting the brick and the spire carry their own weight against the green.
