Concrete Viaduct Edge at Frontenpad, Maastricht

Shot from below, the viaduct at Frontenpad cuts a hard horizontal line against a sky that's doing most of the heavy lifting. The concrete geometry — slab edge, support column, steel guardrail — is blunt and unapologetic; the cloud mass behind it is anything but passive. One pigeon holds the corner. The drama here is architectural as much as atmospheric: the structure pushes flat against the storm and neither gives way.
