Water Caustics on Concrete Bridge Soffit, Maastricht

River light doesn't stay at the river's edge. Beneath a Maastricht bridge, reflected water projects a live caustic pattern across the raw concrete soffit and pier — rippling, shifting, covering the entire surface in something the structure's designers never drew. The concrete is static and industrial; the light across it is anything but. Together they make the underside of a bridge the most animated place on the river.
