Derelict Warehouse and Cumulus Sky, Maastricht Waterfront

A massive cumulus formation rises over an abandoned industrial warehouse on the Maastricht waterfront, occupying two-thirds of the frame and doing the structural work that the ruined steel trusses below no longer can. The building's exposed lattice-work and graffiti-covered facade push flat against the water's edge — monumental in its own right, and still dwarfed. Sky as architecture; ruin as scale reference.
