Neoclassical Facade Behind Spring Canopy, Maastricht

Lime trees in full spring leaf push against a neoclassical stucco facade on a clear-sky afternoon in Maastricht. The canopy does most of the compositional work — branches and fresh foliage fragment the ornamental stonework and mansard dormer into glimpsed geometry, while the deep blue above holds the whole frame together. The building recedes behind the trees; the trees press forward into it. Two layers of the same street, each insisting on its own depth.
