The underside of a concrete bridge in Maastricht, seen from water level. The soffit's diagonal edge cuts hard across the frame — a single line that reorganises the space above and below it. Where the structure dominates, the river gives it back softly: reflected light from the open channel pools at the base, pulling the eye through the span toward the arch beyond. Civil engineering as decisive geometry.
