Grote Kerk Breda — Transept Facade and Lancet Window

Shot from directly below, the transept facade of the Grote Kerk Breda resolves into a single graphic wedge — lancet window, flanking pinnacles, and gabled apex locked into one vertical thrust. The overcast sky isn't backdrop here; it's a co-equal force, the churning cloud mass giving the pale Brabantine brick its weight. Gothic architecture earns its drama from the line work itself, the stone geometry alone enough to pull the eye upward — the storm simply confirms what the builders already knew.
