Grote Kerk Breda Tower from the Pedestrian Street

The Grote Kerk tower rises dead-centre at the end of a Breda shopping street, flanked by facing facades that compress the sky into a narrow corridor above. Shot from street level looking straight up, the Gothic stonework fills the gap between the buildings — every detail of the Brabantse Gothiek spire readable against the overcast cloud. The architecture announces itself; the street canyon does the compositional work.
