Modernist Cantilevered Roof in Breda Under Storm Sky

KOBOC's cantilevered roof cuts a hard diagonal across a bruised storm sky in Breda, its horizontal sweep pulling against the vertical mass of cloud building behind it. Steel columns and a glass curtain wall run the full length of the façade; below, a dense row of bicycles lines the pavement in the way that only a Dutch city does. The graphic weight of the roof line is what drives this image — a single structural decision that earns its drama without asking the sky for permission.
