PTT Telefoon Building, Breda — Stepped Gable Against Overcast Sky

The PTT Telefoon building in Breda fills the frame from low angle, its dark brick facade rising to a stepped gable tower silhouetted against a heavy, cloud-laden sky. The lettering pressed into the brickwork — PTT TELEFOON — holds its ground after decades of institutional change, a name embedded in the wall the way civic purpose once embedded itself in architecture. This building was built to mean something, and the overcast light makes that argument plainly.
