Wave-Roof Congress Centre, Breda — Overcast Sky

Breda's congress centre pushes contemporary civic architecture to its most graphic extreme — a wave-form roof that crests and dips against a heavy overcast sky, held up by diagonal ramps and stacked horizontal bands. The cobblestone plaza in front empties the foreground completely, leaving nothing to compete with the building's restless geometry. Monochrome pulls the tonal weight into the cloud and the pale cladding, flattening the depth until the structure reads as pure form.
