Gothic Arch and Scaffold, Grote Kerk Breda

12 May 2026 · Breda

A Gothic pointed arch frames a full tower of tubular steel scaffold inside the Grote Kerk in Breda — the medieval nave mid-restoration. The carved stone columns and ornate capitals hold their ground against the industrial grid; the arch does exactly what it was built to do, only now it contains a construction site. Heritage restoration at this scale is the building arguing for its own survival, and the scaffold is the evidence.
