Brass Chandelier and Gothic Tracery, Grote Kerk Breda
12 May 2026 · Breda
A brass chandelier hangs in the nave of the Grote Kerk in Breda, its candle arms spread wide against the stone Gothic arches behind it. Shot from directly below, the upward angle compresses the layering — chandelier, arcade, clerestory windows — into a single vertical frame. The tracery windows flood the upper register with flat diffused light while the lower nave stays in deep shadow, giving the brass its warmth against the cold stone. Form holds both the sacred and the structural in the same geometry.
