Leica SL3-S
24MP full-frame mirrorless with 6K open-gate video and 30fps continuous shooting — Leica's video-leaning SL flagship.
The SL3-S is the video-leaning sibling to the SL3. It pairs a 24MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor with 6K open-gate video, 30fps continuous shooting, and the same L-mount magnesium body as the SL3. The lower pixel count is the trade for faster sensor readout and longer record times; the rest of the platform — autofocus, ergonomics, weather sealing, dual card slots — is shared. The colour-coded photo-and-video mode switch carries across both bodies.
Position in the lineup
The SL3-S is for someone whose work leans toward motion or fast-burst shooting where 60MP starts to fight against frame rate and file size. Within Leica's SL-system it sits alongside the SL3 (60MP, 8K video, photo-leaning) and the SL3 Reporter (60MP in a ruggedized aramid-fabric finish) — same body, same L-mount, three different sensor-and-finish choices. Through the L-Mount Alliance, all three share lens compatibility with Panasonic and Sigma full-frame L-mount cameras.
