Beatles Statue at Liverpool Pier Head, Cunard Building
9 October 2019 · Liverpool
Four bronze figures stride in formation across the paving at Liverpool Pier Head, the Cunard Building's neoclassical limestone facade filling the frame behind them. The sculpture group — cast mid-stride, coats open, heads level — holds the kind of composed authority that public art rarely pulls off. It earns its place against one of the Three Graces; the geometry of four figures walking together does the same work the building's repeated window bays do. An overcast autumn sky keeps the light even across both.
