Liverpool Lime Street Station — Victorian Train Shed Facade

9 October 2019 · Liverpool

Liverpool Lime Street's barrel-vaulted train shed dominates the frame from the bottom of the wide stone steps. The sandstone arcade below and the iron-and-glass vault above are two eras of engineering sitting in the same wall — the Victorian stonework grounding the lighter structure that rises behind it. The red British Rail double-arrow anchors the composition at the centre, a single flat graphic against a facade that earns the attention on its own.
