St George's Hall anchors the right of the frame with the full weight of its neoclassical colonnade — warm sandstone columns against a bruised, overcast sky. The foreground does something else entirely: yellow box-junction geometry laid across grey tarmac, graphic and flat, a civic marking that carries as much presence as the building behind it. Liverpool's civic grandeur and its working street infrastructure, held in one frame.
