Koningsplein at Golden Hour, Arnhem

Koningsplein opens wide under a sky that has done most of the compositional work. Heavy cumulus rolls in from the west while the low sun burns through the break behind it, throwing the medieval gate tower and the civic buildings into deep silhouette against the backlit cloud. The square itself — empty cobblestones running to the horizon of the roofline — holds the ground plane steady while everything above it moves. Arnhem's old and new sit side by side here, and on an autumn evening with the light at this angle, the difference between centuries collapses into a single dark edge.
