Autumn Reflection on Sonsbeek Park Lake, Arnhem

Sonsbeek Park in Arnhem holds still in the middle of October. A tree island sits at the centre of the lake, its canopy half-turned to rust and gold, the whole thing doubled in the water below. Fallen leaves collect at the shore's edge — the surface carries both the sky and the season at once. The drama is overhead: a bank of cumulus pressing down while the lake stays flat and mirror-clear, each system doing its own work, neither yielding to the other.
