Cantilevered Concrete Facade, Maastricht Civic Building

The upper floor of this Maastricht institutional building pushes outward on cylindrical piloti, its cantilevered concrete panel cutting a hard diagonal against the overcast summer sky. Behind it, a terracotta-clad drum curves away — warm oxide against cool grey, two materials from different eras sitting in deliberate adjacency. The geometry is the argument: the building earns its presence through structure, not ornament.
