Maastricht Waterfront Rooflines and Church Spire
23 June 2026 · Maastricht
The Maas quayside in Maastricht layers four centuries of building in a single glance — a whitewashed merchant house, a grid-windowed brick block, and a Gothic spire rising clean above the roofline. The medieval stone quay wall anchors the foreground, its weathered bulk doing most of the work of making the café terraces and passing cyclists feel incidental. Maastricht sits where old trade routes crossed the river, and the Wyck waterfront still reads that way: a place where the city's different eras decided to stack up rather than spread out.
