Underpass in Pijnacker, South Holland

A tiled underpass wall in Pijnacker recedes hard into the frame, its weathered yellow-grey tiles stripped of colour and read as pure geometry. The concrete ceiling cuts diagonally across the upper half; road striping pulls a second line toward the tunnel exit. Infrastructure rarely asks to be looked at closely — this one earns it: the decay in the surface and the compression of the perspective hold the same tension.
