Neo-Gothic Brick Church Gable with Sundial, Pijnacker
20 June 2026 · Pijnacker
A neo-Gothic church gable in Pijnacker, its dark brick face climbing toward a slate ridge under a flat overcast sky. Ivy traces the wall beneath the pointed arch, and set into the gable window — where you expect plain glass — is a decorative sundial panel marking hours that the cloud cover has long since obscured. The arched windows repeat across the facade in a rhythm that holds the eye, but the sundial stops it. The building asks to be read as geometry; the dial gives you a reason to actually look.
