Interior view of a modern public atrium in The Hague: a central escalator rises to an upper floor flanked by an open staircase on the right and a metal elevator door on the left wall, with tall glazed windows flooding the space with diffused daylight.

Escalator and Staircase, Public Atrium — The Hague

30 May 2026 · The Hague

Three routes to the same upper floor: escalator, staircase, and elevator door, each claiming its own geometry within the atrium. Shot from dead centre, the escalator pulls the eye straight up a vanishing point while the staircase fans out to the right and the glazed facade floods the scene with flat, even light. The composition holds the tension between mechanical movement and static structure — one built for speed, the other for permanence.
