From the bridge deck, the Erasmusbrug's stay cables fan outward in a tight geometry of white lines against deep summer blue. Ben van Berkel's pylon holds the composition together — thin at the tip, widening as it meets the deck — while De Rotterdam and the Wilhelminapier towers stack up on the right. The cables do structural work and graphic work simultaneously; the two are inseparable here.
