De Rotterdam's three stepped glass towers rise above the Wilhelminapier waterfront on a clear summer day, with the white bow of cruise ship MSC Virtuosa visible at right against a deep blue sky.

De Rotterdam Tower and MSC Virtuosa, Wilhelminapier

28 May 2026 · Rotterdam

De Rotterdam stacks three glass towers into a single stepped mass on the Wilhelminapier, its gridded facade catching the afternoon light against a deep blue summer sky. Rem Koolhaas and OMA designed the building to read as a city block turned vertical — dense, self-contained, and deliberate. The bow of MSC Virtuosa anchors the right edge of the frame, adding a second layer of port-scale geometry without pulling focus from the architecture. Two structures built for different purposes arrive at the same industrial logic.
