The Erasmusbrug pylon rises almost vertically from the pedestrian deck, cable-stays fanning outward against a deep blue Rotterdam sky. Shot from the cycle path at low angle, the geometry compresses the entire span into a single decisive line — the Montevideo tower anchoring the south bank behind it. Ben van Berkel's design is massive in scale and precise in detail; the two qualities rarely coexist this clearly in one frame.
