Dutch Polder Canal Reflection, Leiden Polderpark

A drainage canal cuts through the wetland meadows of Leiden Polderpark, its surface carrying a near-perfect reflection of the cumulus clouds building overhead. The sky is the subject as much as the water — broad and restless above a landscape that stays low and still. Reed beds flank the canal on both sides, the treeline holds the horizon flat, and the light sits at that late-summer point where the blue overhead and the shadow in the grass pull against each other without resolving.
