Narrow Dutch canal covered in lily pads, flanked by reed beds and tall trees, photographed at dusk under an overcast sky at Leiden Polderpark.

Lily-Pad Canal at Leiden Polderpark, Summer Dusk

22 May 2025 · Leiden Polderpark

A narrow canal cuts straight through the Leiden Polderpark, its surface almost entirely covered in lily pads. Reed beds press in from both sides, yellow iris at the margins, and a dense tree canopy closes the frame overhead. The sky holds the last pale light of a cloudy summer evening — still, overcast, the water a dark mirror where the lily pads leave gaps. The leading line pulls the eye through the green corridor toward a bridge barely visible in the distance.
