Symmetrical Dutch canal lined with moored boats on both banks, a large weeping willow centred at the far end, trees in deep shadow flanking the frame, cumulus clouds reflected in the still water.

Dutch Canal Corridor with Willow Reflection, Leiden Polderpark

22 May 2025 · Leiden Polderpark

A narrow canal corridor cuts through Leiden Polderpark, moored boats sitting quiet on both banks and a weeping willow anchoring the far end. The water holds the sky almost perfectly — cumulus clouds and green canopy mirrored below the surface with the kind of stillness that only arrives when the wind goes flat. Deep tree shadow fills the foreground while the open sky beyond the willow stays bright, the contrast between the two halves doing most of the compositional work.
